On February 4, 2015 r. in London The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) and the Romanian Embassy in Great Britain and Northern Ireland organized interactive workshops. This is one of the events organized on a quarterly basis in London by BVB in response to the growing interest in Romania as a place to locate investments. The aim of the workshop was a meeting with the Romanian business community operating in London, presenting the achievements of the Romanian capital market and its prospects. All these activities are aimed to approach the Romanian market to the status of emerging markets. The program of changes is supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the largest institutional investor in Romania. The development of capital markets and the stock of credit in local currencies is one of the priorities of the EBRD. To date, the Bank has invested about € 7 billion in 368 projects in Romania, of which only in 2014, almost 600 million euros.

Dr Ion Jinga, Ambassador of Romania in the UK, in his speach has encouraged the development of the Romanian capital market and attract new international investors. Ludwik Sobolewski, CEO of BVB, presented the participants with the latest developments in the reform of the Romanian capital market, which is claiming the statute of emerging markets, while Lucian Anghel, CEO of BVB, presented the perspective of the capital market in Romania.

In addition, the workshops were an opportunity to exchange views for 65 representatives of the Romanian business community in London (the younger generation of entrepreneurs working in the financial industry in London and various branches of business). In this way, BVB and participants of the Romanian capital market are the bridge between Romania, the scene of numerous initiatives to support the development of the market and, above all, a world-class financial center.

 

Another conference under the name “the Romanian capital market – growth towards emerging market” was held on 6 February 2015. And was organized by the Stock Exchange Bucharest (BVB), in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Bloomberg. The theme of the conference were the latest developments of the Romanian capital market and the pace of reforms necessary to take account of the Romanian market in the indices FTSE, S & P Dow Jones and Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) to belong to emerging markets.

The event was opened by Jean-Marc Peterschmitt (Chief Executive Equalisation Fund, EBRD) and the Ludwik Sobolewski (Director General BVB). “Romania is a growing tiger of Central and Eastern Europe. Our goal is to attract the attention of institutional investors who wish to increase their presence in the market, and through discussions to find ways to enable Romania to fully-fledged family of emerging markets. In addition, we want to learn from investors about the challenges facing them. That is what the dialogue, “said Ludwik Sobolewski.

A member of both the conference was Mr. Pawel Sliwinski, Managing Director of INC SA (the only Polish company which was granted the status of Authorised Adviser of the Romanian market AeRO), which presented the company’s operations INC and discussed the significance of the market AeRO, the need for SME financing through the capital market and the introduction of models finance that have been successful in Poland.
